Pencoed Comprehensive Eisteddfod 2022!

We were thrilled to be able to host our first in-person Eisteddfod earlier this month, for the first time in 2 years! It was also the first one for Year 7 and 8 pupils as part of Pencoed Comprehensive.

Each year group had the chance to enjoy 2 hours of games, performances, and dancing, as the Sports Hall played host to a slightly smaller crowd than usual. Despite the diminished size, each year group made the noise of five, as they cheered each other on!

Whilst there was plenty of talent on stage, a number of pupils had also taken part in off-stage competitions, run by different departments. Some beautiful pieces of artwork were produced in response to the Art Depts ‘Welsh Icon’ competition – Mrs Davies, Head of Art, had a tough time picking a winner!

As always, there was some fierce competition between the Houses when it came to point-scoring! However, one thing that makes every Pencoed Comprehensive Eisteddfod special is the respect, encouragement, and support pupils give to those who are brave enough to get up on stage – regardless of their House.

Well done to everyone who took part in competitions, both on and off stage, and to all pupils for embracing the Eisteddfod spirit! It was a close finish, but results were as follows:

1st place – 423 points – Gwenllian (Blue)
2nd place – 413 points – Llywelyn (Red)
3rd place – 376 points – Branwen (Yellow)
4th place – 324 points – Owain (Green)
