Children in Need 2023

This Friday, 17th November will be a non-uniform day in aid of Children in Need. Students are encouraged to wear Children in Need themed clothing if they have any. A voluntary donation of £1 can be made using the ParentPay system. Students can also bring in change for fundraising activities.

The full amount collected will be donated to Children in Need who fund over 3,900 local charities and projects which directly support children and young people in communities across the UK.

Students will still be expected to maintain high standards of behaviour and must wear suitable, practical, appropriate clothing for school. Offensive slogans or images on clothing will not be permitted. All school rules including those regarding mobile devices remain unchanged.

We hope that this will be an enjoyable day and an opportunity to focus on something positive for the whole school community. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact admin@pencoedcs.bridgend.cymru.

European Day of Languages 2023!

As always, our wonderful International Languages department went all out to celebrate this year’s European Day of Languages – and got the staff and learners involved too!

Learners were invited to enter a number of competitions, including the ‘masked linguist’ quiz, and decorating their books covers, to represetn the language they are studying.

The now annual cake competition saw Yr7 learners battle it out, creating cakes connected to different European countries. We’re grateful to local business The Sandwich Co for giving up their time to come and judge. It was a tough choice!

As well as being stunning to look at, the break time cake sale proved that they were pretty tasty too! The fun continued at lunch, where staff got to show off their costumes, and learners had fun in the languages themed photobooth.

Many thanks to Mrs Davies and Miss Beynon for organising all of the activities. We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
