Gothic Party 2025

Just before half term, the English department hosted their annual ‘Gothic Party’, sharing spooky stories!

Year 8 have been studying Gothic literature in their lessons, using the topic to expand their writing skills, with a particular focus on despcriptive text. Each year, English staff select learners who have impressed them with their effort, progress, and skills to share their creepy tales.

There were some particularly scarey stories on display, read by staff and learners, while enjoying the spooky atmosphere.

You can read a selection of learners’ work below…that is…if you dare…

PARCH Show Racism the Red Card!

Pencoed turned red shortly before half term, with staff and students showing their support for the Show Racism the Red Card initiative.

Our PARCH (Pencoed Anti-Racist CHampions) led the way, holding a bake-off cake sale, which raised a fantastic £185 for the cause!

In addition, we are also very proud to announce that Mrs Davies and the PARCH group have been recognised as finalists in the Mastering Diversity Awards 2025!

Led by learners, PARCh aim to make the school environment more inclusive, and to celebrate diversity.
