Year 9 Stalls Support Local Charities

Just before the Easter Holidays, Years 7, 8 and 9 did an amazing job raising funds to support local charities.

Year 9 have been taking part in the FirstGive initiative this year, as part of their Humanities lessons. It aims to support learners to take part in social action, and support local charities. As part of the project, each class selected a charity to learn more about and raise funds for, including:

After last year’s success, Year 9 decided to hold another Easter Fayre, inviting Years 7 and 8 to attend for the morning. Each class had several stalls, offering a variewty of treats and activities, including brownies, waffles, ‘pin-the-head-on-the-celeb’, penalty shoot-out, rugby tackling, and jumbo connect four, to name a few!

There was a fantastic atmosphere in the sports hall, with all learners getting involved. As a result, over £1700 was raised for the charities; a phenomenal achievement.

We are also incredibly grateful to the wider community for supporting Year 9’s endeavours. From holding collections to donating prizes, their generosity made the Easter Fayre possible. We’d like to give a huge ‘thank you’ to all the businesses who helped, including:

Year 5 and 6 Open Evening

On behalf of the staff and governors of Pencoed Comprehensive School, we are delighted to invite you to our Year 5 and Year 6 open evening on Monday 29th September 2025.  The event will consist of an opportunity to meet the senior leadership team and key members of staff who will be supporting your child’s wellbeing. This includes Mr Thomas John who will be Progress and Wellbeing Lead for our incoming Year 7 learners.

It is nearly a year since we had our Estyn inspection of which we are incredibly proud of. Estyn noted that “Pencoed Comprehensive School is a caring, inclusive school where the well-being of individuals is prioritised, and diversity celebrated. A strong sense of community and belonging forms a secure foundation for pupils to learn, grow, thrive and flourish” We have no doubt that by spending time with us, you will discover first-hand how we support all learners to learn, grow, thrive and flourish in our school community.

We will be running two sessions which will involve a guided tour of the school site followed by an information session led by key staff.

  • Tour one will begin at 4pm with the information session commencing at 4.45pm;
  • Tour two will begin at 4.45pm with the information session commencing at 5.30pm.

On arrival to school for your booked session, please make your way to the Sixth Form block where members of our Sixth Form leadership team and staff will meet you.

We also often have many queries about whether learners are also allowed to attend – please be assured that we look forward to meeting our prospective learners and our staff have planned many exciting activities!

On visiting the school, you will receive an overview of transition events for the year some of which include:

  • visits to the school in which learners engage with Areas of Learning Experience to support their learning transition;
