Show Racism the Red Card ’24

On Friday 18th, the school turned red to show support for the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ campaign.

Our Pencoed Anti-Racism groupd were at the heart of organising activities, from arts and crafts, cake sales, a staff coffee morning, and most importantly gathering signatures to show Pencoed Comprehensive’s committment to being an anti-racist school.

There was also an opportunity for learners to show off their artistic skills, as part of a poster competition. The entries were fantastic, not only in terms of displaying learners’ talent, but also their awareness and support for the campaign.

Whether wearing red, donating to our JustGiving page, or signing the committment, it was great to see staff and learners get behind such an important cause.

School Council Elections

Learners from all year groups had the opportunity today to elect their representatives for the School Council.

Voting boxes ready!

Learners campaign promises included efforts to make the school more eco-friendly, increasing the number of extra-curricular activities available, imporiving accessibility for disabled learners, and finding ways to support positive behaviour.

Miss Page even organised ‘I voted today’ stickers, which learners were seen proudly wearing around the school.

Many thanks as well, to our Yr13 Head Team, who supported the voting sessions.

It’s fantastic to see to many of our learners being so passionate about contributing to the school, and supporting their peers. We can’t wait to see what the School Council achieve this year!
