Mock Exams

GCSE, AS, and A Level mock examinations will take place place from Friday 2nd to Friday 9th December. Pupils will receive individual timetables next week, and details of seating plans will be provided closer to the examination dates.

The mock examinations are an important part of the work that your child is currently completing and are important part of the preparation for their AS and A-Level examinations in 2023. At Pencoed Comprehensive we want to ensure that every learner has the opportunity to ‘flourish’ and these assessments ensure that your child is fully prepared for their examinations next year.  To this end, we hope that you will fully support us in delivering a successful mock examination period by encouraging your child to prepare and revise in advance. This will give them the best possible opportunity to achieve the grades of which they are capable.

During the mock examinations we would ask that you ensure that learners have the correct equipment for each of their examinations and that they wear the correct school uniform. Learners will also be reminded of the expectations of behaviour and conduct during examinations to ensure that they run smoothly and fairly. We aim to run the exams in the same format, with the same rules and expectations as the AS and A-Level examinations. This provides an opportunity to prepare the pupils for the formal environment required in external examinations.

Learners must be aware that no electronic devices, this includes phones, watches, headphones and air pods are allowed into the examination hall.

Equipment can either be carried into the examination hall or contained within a see-through pencil case/poly pocket. Should your child wish to take in a bottle of water, it needs to be a see-through bottle with all labels removed. We will continue to keep you updated with any information and changes via the school website, Parent App, social media, and text messages.

Flourishing Families

As Year 7 parents and carers, we would like to invite you to attend our Flourishing Families mornings. At Pencoed Comprehensive we believe in developing a school curriculum that involves learners, parents, carers, partner agencies and the local community. This is important for us to ensure our curriculum meets learners’ needs and will enable all our leaners to learn, grow, thrive and flourish. We believe fostering positive relationships with parents and carers is paramount and enables us to have purposeful and meaningful dialogue, as well as helping parents and carers to understand how they can support learning within and outside the school environment.
