Pencoed Parent Teacher Association

Dear Parents and Carers,

Hand pointing towards reader, with text stating "we need you!".

Do you have experience of fundraising? Have you ever been involved in a school Parent Teacher Association or a fundraising group? Would you like to make a real difference to the student experience at Pencoed Comprehensive School?

The school governors are hoping to bring together a group of parents and members of the local community who would be interested in forming an independent fundraising group. This group would work to raise funds and seek sponsorship or support to help enhance the experiences and opportunities we can offer our students.

For example, this could include fundraising for sports equipment, resources to support school productions, or other activities that enrich school life.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet other parents, become more involved in the school community, and help make a positive impact for our students.

If you are interested in helping to set this up, or if you have advice or experience to share on running a fundraising group, please email admin@pencoedcs.bridgend.cymru by Friday 24 April 2026.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards,

Pencoed Comprehensive School Governors

Easter Fayre Success!

As part of their Social Studies lessons, Year 9 took part in the FirstGive initiative, raising funds for a range of charities.

The year group had the opportunity to learn about social issues. Each class then chose a charity that supports the local community, to raise funds for. They had the chance to speak to representatives from these charities, who visited the school, and some classes even visited the charities to learn more about them.

On 9th April, Year 9 hosted the first Pencoed Easter Fayre. The classes set up a range of stalls to raise money for their chosen charity, to tempt Years 7 and 8! There was so much variety on offer, with learners showing off their skills in hardressing, nail art, and face painting! There were also penalty shoot-outs, lucky dips, raffles, and plenty of treats on offer!

Over the course of the day, over £1500 was raised for the following charities:

It was fantastic to see such a range of charitable groups represented, and we are incredibly proud of the divesity, sensitivity, and maturity of the Year 9s. Click the links in the list above to find out more about any of the charities supported.

There’s already plans in place for a similar event next year, and we can’t wait to see where our current Year 8 take the initiative next year!
