A Generous Donation

We were delighted to welcome Pencoed Town Council Lady Mayoress, Mrs Leanne Lewis, Clerk to Pencoed Town Council, Mr Geraint Thomas, and Cllr Hancock to the school today, to deliver a generous donation to one of our pupils.

Mrs Bishop has worked with our Young Carers group for a number of years now, organising funding, grants, trips and activities. Many of these have been supported by monetary donations from Pencoed Town Council, and have benefitted our pupils immensely.

A lot of our Young Carers are now in Yr11, and are looking ahead to their futures – whether it is remaining at the school to study at Pencoed 6th Form, undertake an apprenticeship, or, as is the case for Zander, attend Bridgend College.

Having heard about the work of our Young Carers group, and in particular Zander’s passion for computing, and desire to continue his studies, Cllr. Hancock came forward to personally donate a second-hand. Cllr Hancock said:

“I’d had a laptop spare for some time, and have been looking for someone who would make good use of it. Hearing about Zander, I knew he would be a worthy recipient, and I can only hope it will benefit him in his future studies.”

We are incredibly grateful to Cllr Hancock, and Pencoed Town Council, for their continued support of the school and it’s pupils. Zander has already been accepted to study Level 3 Extended Certificate in IT, and is looking forward to putting his new computer through its paces!
